Goodyear and the TIP Trailer Services group have been working together for more than 15 years. TIP specializes in leasing and renting trucks and trailers and offers several services for transport and logistics customers. In 2019, the TIP group took over Pema GmbH, an operational leasing and renting company for commercial vehicles and trailers. Thus, the fleet was increased by further 18,000 vehicles so that TIP currently runs more than 110,000 vehicles and over 110 workshops worldwide in Europe and Canada.
Large fleet management
The administration of such a large fleet, which operates at several locations and offers services to numerous customers worldwide, demands support from an intelligent fleet management system. With FleetOnlineSolutions (FOS) Goodyear supports the whole TIP fleet from breakdown service and vehicle inspection to maximum exploitation of a tyre life cycle to optimization of operational life and costs. The contract extended by five years includes Goodyear Total Mobility, the comprehensive mobility concept of the tyre manufacturer, retreading, proactive solutions, and support based on an extensive service network with more than 2,000 locations only in Europe.
“In 2006, we were one of the first customers working with FleetOnlineSolutions with such a scope. Since then, Goodyear has constantly been adapting the system to our needs, while the company itself has been growing and transitioning into the digital age. We appreciate the way the team has at the same time been reflecting with us and relying on its own innovative skills in order to find the appropriate solution for our demanding tasks. No matter whether we focus on fleet and tyre management or safe data transfer”, says Paul Beadle, COO at TIP.
Increase of efficiency and profitability
The level of connectivity in the transport and logistics industry has been growing because it offers a possibility to better deal with growing fluctuations in demand and increased time pressure. Fleet operators are responsible for complex operations and have to keep track of all the vehicles being on the road in Europe or parking for a longer period. A simple one-stop-shop solution plays a crucial role to guarantee consistency and to keep an eye on the whole tyre management, maintenance measures being carried out, and an extensive network of service providers and their availability.
FleetOnlineSolutions is a digital tyre and fleet management platform, which is to provide commercial fleets with complete control by offering precise and timely information on PC, laptop, or mobile device. According to company information, the solution gives a comprehensive overview of the vehicles and their respective locations combined with tyre regulations and conditions agreed upon.
Generating added value
“Today we manage over 400,000 trucks and trailers across Europe with FleetOnlineSolutions and the added value for our customers is quite obvious: higher operational efficiency, increased uptime, lower operating costs, faster service, as well as ease of invoicing and administration. The long-term partnership with TIP proves that this is a trusted customer-oriented solution, able to manage even the most complex operations. We are looking forward to continue working closely together to improve customer satisfaction and to support further growth”, explains Alberto Villarreal, Managing Director Fleet Europe & Proactive Solutions for the Business Unit Commercial at Goodyear.
The pan-European scope makes local transactions easier and guarantees international consistency of pricing and services. Based on their needs, fleets are able to decide in favour of a ‘Pay as you go’ plan or ‘Price per kilometre’, and at one glance, get full transparency on cost elements.
In the areas of breakdown service and maintenance, detailed reports can be shared with any Goodyear service provider to offer prompt, consistent and efficient service and at the same time to further reduce administrative expenses and costs via a direct invoicing system and a tyre policy plan agreed upon.
